After graduating, SWIB Alumnae go on to work in a wide variety of interesting careers. To kick off our alumnae feature series, we asked Paige Gonye ('14) about her time with SWIB and how she got where she is today.
Where have you worked since graduating?
I’ve worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Morgan Stanley since graduating from Stanford in June 2014.
How did your experience with SWIB influence where you are now?
SWIB connected me with key mentors and served as a platform for launching and running the Fantasy Stock Exchange. Both influenced my career path, affirmed my interest in finance and ultimately helped me secure a job in investment banking. My mentors provided information about specific firms and their cultures, and they assisted me with interview preparation. My SWIB position, Director of the Fantasy Stock Exchange helped me better understand financial markets, and it also made me realize how much I wanted to learn about valuation, accounting and financial modeling so that I could become a better investor.
What's something interesting you've learned along the way?
Everyone has always said that investment banking is a tough career out of college, but I’ve loved it! I’ve learned a ton, worked on really motivated, hard-working teams, closed several public and high-profile transactions, and figured out what I want to do next.
What's a fun fact about yourself?
Fun Fact: My nickname at work is Obi-Wan (Kenobi) because I’m known for wearing camel colored wrap sweaters to keep warm!
Anything else you'd like to mention?
I’m working with a group of women to organize some cool NYC events connecting women in business/finance, so please reach out if you’d like to get involved.
