In light of the recent election, many students at Stanford, like many people around the country, have felt increasingly disillusioned with our political system. However, we have also developed a renewed sense of urgency in advocating for the issues we care about and making sure our voices are heard. This panel will allow students to come together and hear about strategic, actionable steps we can take in defending our rights. We want students to come away from this event feeling as though they have a way to make their voice heard by influencing policy and legislation at the local, state, and federal level.

About Wendy Davis

Senator Wendy Davis was a representative in the Texas Senate from 2009-2015 and a Texas gubernatorial candidate in 2014. In 2013 Senator Davis filibustered for 11 hours to kill a bill that would have struck a remarkable blow to abortion access in the state of Texas. Most recently she founded an organization called "Deeds not Words" that helps women create meaningful political change. http://deedsnotwords.com/
