As a member of 500 Startups, we can offer students tangible networking and professional growth opportunities within a fun and fast-paced startup environment.

In the past we've had wonderful experiences working with Stanford students and we would love to see if any more students are interested! Below I have included a short and long description, please circulate whichever you prefer.

2) Long Description

Fellowship opportunity at LocalAventura, an exciting pre-profit travel startup!

Company: LocalAventura is an online platform where adventurous travelers can book authentic tours with passionate local guides throughout Latin America. We are a unique online marketplace that allows travelers to find, book, and pay for off-the-beaten path tours with trusted local guides all in one place. We work to empower our local guides by giving them access to a global clientele, allowing them to make a living doing what they love.  Similar to Uber, our guides get to be their own bosses and we find them clients. By connecting locals and travelers and allowing them to explore the world together, it is our hope that we can create a newfound appreciation for the world in which we live.

LocalAventura was founded by Eugena Brown, Andrea Vidler, and Cait Breslin. Gena and Drea are both Wharton MBA alumnae, and Cait graduated from Penn in 2015. The startup launched to the public in March 2016 and is currently participating in the Penn iCorps accelerator, M&T Innovation Fund at Penn, and the Wharton Venture Initiation Program. In July 2016 we were accepted into the prestigious 500 Startups accelerator program, at the Mexico City location.

Our product: We are a curated tour-booking platform for authentic experiences throughout Latin America. We offer a wide variety of products on our platform, including multi-day horseback adventures through the Andes mountains, hiking the W trek in Patagonia, learning to dance tango in Buenos Aires, taking a wine tour through the stunning vineyards of Chile, swimming with whale sharks in Cancun, and tasting the best tacos that Mexico has to offer,  to name a few. We will also work with you individually to give you opportunities in fields that interest you the most and that you’ve always wanted to try. At the moment we are concentrated on customer acquisition, so experience with marketing, content creation, graphic design, and/or tech/analytics is a plus.

What we offer you: This opportunity will provide you with critical experience working in a startup environment. You will be able to gain broad experience in various aspects of a startup company such as marketing, sales, product development and management, customer relationship management and more. Through our mentorshi,p we aim to provide you with the chance to gain unprecedented working skills while also empowering you to take professional and creative initiative.

Hours/week: We are open to working with your schedule, and offer both full time (40 hours/week) and part-time (15-20 hours/week) positions.

Location: We are currently headquartered in Mexico City, due to our participation in the 500 Startups program. No Spanish proficiency is necessary since our team and guides all speak English, however it is viewed as an great asset. Working remotely can also be a possibility.

Timing: We prefer commitments of a minimum of 12 weeks, but are open to being flexible regarding schedules.
