Initiatives

Stanford Women in Business is made up of six core teams that work together to promote our mission. SWIB is led by co-presidents who oversee the organization and each of its teams as they relate to empowering young women in pre-professional careers. Specifically, they focus on the execution of events, weekly meetings, intern programming, and external relations.

Young Women’s Leadership Summit

The Young Women's Leadership Summit is an annual event that brings together young women from California high schools for a day of workshops and speeches from inspiring speakers. The event aims to prepare and educate young women about the world of business while having the chance to experience Stanford. During the day-long conference, attendees listen to and learn from accomplished women leaders, gain hands-on experience through workshops, and interact with industry professionals, Stanford students, and motivated peers. Learn more→

Executive Leadership Series

The Executive Leadership Series is a quarterly event that provides the Stanford community with an opportunity to learn about and discuss one leader’s unique journey to success. This new event was conceived with the aim of giving Stanford students an avenue to learn more about business through the experiences of others. Previous speakers include Helena Foulkes (the current Chief Executive Officer of Hudson's Bay Company), Janet Foutty (Chairwoman & CEO, Deloitte) and Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen (Founder & President, Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen Foundation). SWIBX

SWIBX is a thought incubator focused on encouraging more entrepreneurial risk-taking and ideation within the Stanford woman-identifying population. SWIBX offers three areas of support for aspiring co-founders: workshops, network, and mentorship. Workshops will be centered around the startup process, focusing on brainstorming, prototyping, market research, pitching, execution, business modeling, funding, and more. Participants will grow their network through other entrepreneurial peers and speakers. SWIBX will also hold office hours, in which a top female venture capitalist, co-founder, or CEO will dedicate an hour to giving advice, support, and more. Learn more→

Tech Week

Every February, SWIB organizes tech week, where female leaders of tech are recognized and brought to Stanford to introduce the Stanford community to the various opportunities in tech. Last year, we hosted Stanford alumni and Co-Founder of LinkedIn Reid Hoffman for our keynote speech. In addition, we hosted a Women Across Tech Panel (Google, Android, Airbnb, Uber, and more represented), and a startup Lunch (DoorDash, Poshmark, SendGrid, and more represented).

Springternships

The Springternships Program connects some of the brightest Stanford students to businesses and firms from across the country for part- or full-time work experiences during the spring quarter. Internships are available in a variety of industries, including tech, finance, business development, and marketing. Learn more→

SWIB Gala

SWIB Fellowships

The SWIB Fellowship is a community and space for like-minded, empowered women at Stanford. The Fellowship will offer organizational leadership development and access to SWIB mentorship, skill development, networking, and guest speaker events. Fellows will have the flexibility to develop new SWIB initiatives and work on them based on their own schedules and time commitment capacity.

The goal of the event is to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women organizations, communities and individuals on Stanford's campus. We are actively looking for recommendations for speakers and presenters for our event, so keep that in mind!

Organization

Internal Relations

In charge of all initiatives that build rapport internally in the SWIB community. This includes education, diversity and inclusion, alumni relations, member development, and operations. This team intends to build strong community relations both within SWIB.

Business Leadership

Organize and execute premier, large-scale events for the broader SWIB community. These events include the annual Young Women’s Leadership Summit, the Executive Leadership Series, and spring Tech Week. This team will bring large groups together to learn from successful female role-models across industries.

External Relations

Manage all relationships with external and corporate organizations. Responsible for recruiting/onboarding sponsors and for helping sponsors plan recruitment events. This team is also responsible for generating value in partnerships with non-sponsoring organizations through internships, industry treks, etc. and in collaboration with SWL. This team intends to build SWIB’s branding off-campus and promote partnerships that give women a first-hand look at professional opportunities post-Stanford.

Marketing

Marketing is responsible for crafting the voice and representation of SWIB to all stakeholders, building a recognizable brand for SWIB. This team manages internal branding by creating event materials and facilitating SWIB swag orders. They are also responsible for shaping SWIB’s public image through the website, social media, and communication via the weekly SWIB newsletter and sponsor/alumni newsletters. Additionally, the management of SWIBU offers a unique opportunity to share valuable, SWIB-curated content with the world.

Campus Relations

In charge of all initiatives that build rapport with the greater Stanford community. This includes SWIB Externships, our internships program, and Stanford partnerships. This team intends to build strong community relations with the larger collegiate network.

Project Development Board

Develop and spearhead independent projects to expand SWIB’s scope. This role will allow individuals to pursue unique projects that aren’t necessarily encompassed by an existing team, but can further SWIB’s mission. This is a great opportunity to create your own role and define your own project throughout the year with the support of the rest of the organization. Potential projects could include improving our diversity outreach, upgrading our technology, establishing a faculty/industry consultancy board, educating SWIB about gender equality, and many more.
