Stanford Management Company Summer/School year Internship
About Stanford Management Company
Stanford Management Company, located on campus at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, invests Stanford Universityʹs endowment funds. The endowment provides support for current and future generations of students and scholars. We aim to grow the Universityʹs endowment by achieving high investment returns while taking an appropriate amount of risk. We have a very long‐term view as we seek to invest the endowment so as to support the Universityʹs mission in perpetuity. Our long‐term view underpins our process of setting the endowmentʹs asset allocation and selecting investments and investment managers across public and private equity, hedge funds, real estate, natural resources, and fixed income.
The Summer Internship
We are hiring full‐time interns to work with our small, fifteen‐person investment team during the summer of 2016. Interns will work on projects and will also gain exposure to finance and long‐term investing through weekly investment team meetings, meetings with existing or new investment managers, and through helping to monitor existing investments. Successful interns may be considered for full‐time analyst positions post‐graduation.
We are seeking candidates who think critically and are intellectually curious, detail‐oriented, and unafraid to ask questions. Interns should possess strong qualitative judgment as well as quantitative aptitude, must have an interest in learning about finance and investing, and must be driven to work hard within a high performance team‐oriented environment. We value excellent academic performance and we look for demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting. We will consider current freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who plan to complete a co‐term from all majors and courses of study.
How to Apply to Summer
Candidates should submit their resume, unofficial transcript, and one‐page cover letter describing their interest in the position by January 24, 2016 via the Handshake website (https://app.joinhandshake.com/jobs/256891/). Applications received thereafter will be considered on a rolling basis. Additional questions can be emailed to AnalystProgram@smc.stanford.edu.
