Brian Acton is the cofounder of WhatsApp, the hugely popular messaging app acquired by Facebook for $21.8 billion. He will share his experience building a product that has been used by more than 1 billion users around the world. Brian was the 44th employee hired by Yahoo Inc. He graduated from Stanford in 1994 with a degree in Computer Science.

 

Garry Tan (Managing Partner at Initialized Capital & Former Partner at Y Combinator)

Garry Tan is a cofounder and managing partner of Initialized Capital, an early stage seed fund with over $160M in assets under management. He was previously a partner at Y Combinator, where he invested in and directly worked with over 700 companies in 5 years, including seed investments in Zenefits, Instacart, Coinbase, OpenDoor, Blend Labs, Boosted Boards, Heap, and OrderAhead. Before that, he cofounded Posterous (acquired by Twitter in a multi-million dollar deal) and also cofounded the engineering team for Palantir Technology's quant finance analysis platform.

Mike Maples Jr. is the Founding Partner at Floodgate.  He has been on the Forbes Midas List since 2010 and was also named one of “8 Rising Stars” by FORTUNE Magazine. Before becoming a full-time investor, Mike was involved as a founder and operating executive at back-to-back startup IPOs, including Tivoli Systems (IPO TIVS, acquired by IBM) and Motive (IPO MOTV, acquired by Alcatel-Lucent. Some of Mike’s investments include Twitter, Twitch.tv, ngmoco, Weebly, Chegg, and Demandforce.
