BIO: The schoolbird vision was birthed in San Francisco, CA, by Kayla McCord and Jim Nguyen when they recognized the power of education to change perspectives, lives, and, ultimately, the world. Driven and inspired to make a difference, they went to work and created what is now known as #TeachInVietnam, a platform that provides native English speakers with the opportunity of a lifetime to experience other cultures, build relationships abroad, and provide the teaching and sharing of the English language and culture to Vietnamese students. The application process is already underway, but the official review and acceptance process will begin on Dec. 1st. WHY TEACH IN VIETNAM: Vietnam is one of Asia’s best-kept secrets for both travelers and teachers. With a swelling population and a roaring economy, Vietnam has undergone seismic change over the last two decades. A country once clouded by war is now squarely focused on what the future has to bring. With English education becoming mandatory in many public and private schools—the government emphasizes the value of native-speaker instruction, and their compensation packages reflect this. With the low cost of living, relatively high wages, and the abundant travel opportunities, it’s hard to argue against Vietnam being the premier destination for teaching English abroad!
