Lidar sensors for self-driving cars currently rely on outdated processing techniques. This is a huge problem because it means cars don’t have enough information to confidently make decisions. Many competitors have tried solving this problem, but none of their solutions work well because they don’t address the fundamental detection physics.
At Red Leader, thye use a new architecture based on their background in laser communications to image multiple beams simultaneously. With this, they can provide 2x the range and 50x the resolution using scalable hardware.
