Palm Tree Summer 2023 Internship
About Palm Tree:
Join an elite team of respected experts who are looking to approach the needs of M&A differently in a demanding yet supportive and collaborative culture.
Teams at Palm Tree are led by seasoned M&A professionals who have worked in private equity, investment banking, Big Four accounting, Elite Three consulting, and business operations. The engagements are challenging, time-sensitive, and demanding. Teams have a shared sentiment of “owning the problem” on behalf of clients and bring analytical firepower, flexibility, and resiliency to deliver pragmatic, workable solutions that create value.
Palm Tree’s model is built to accommodate the unique Finance requirements of a private equity-owned company. By combining aspects of Finance, M&A, Investment Banking, Consulting, and Accounting, the Firm integrates with clients to enable them to prepare for, respond to, and execute on strategic needs arising from companies looking to grow or make a transition in ownership.
Candidates for Palm Tree’s Summer Internship can anticipate:
A rapidly growing, entrepreneurial, collaborative culture centered on growing people’s skillsets inside of fast-paced M&A environments
Exposure to engagements across the entire M&A life cycle (pre-deal due diligence, post-deal transitions and transformations, and M&A execution) that require high levels of engagement
An entrepreneurial environment with the stability and infrastructure of an established firm
A principled culture that lives its core values
High-performing and collegial teams throughout the organization
Connections with top private equity firms and corporations
Accelerated, merit-based career advancement over large, traditional firms
What they offer:
As part of their commitment to grooming our next generation of M&A professionals, Palm Tree offers a robust Summer Internship to elite Undergraduate and MBA students in partnership with a select group of universities.
The 8–12-week program serves as a knowledge transfer of “best practices” suited to the needs of investing in companies through M&A from our Senior Leadership’s direct experience in Big-4, Private Equity, Investment Banking, and Management Consulting.
The internship program consists of three stages:
Stage 1: The first 3-4 weeks consist of an in-depth, “Bootcamp” style of training where students learn:
The basics of an M&A Deal and how Private Equity works
The ins and outs of financial statements, forecasting, 3-statement models
M&A valuation techniques and strategies
Financial Due Diligence (and Quality of Earnings reports)
Tactics and strategies used to improve a business through the office of the CFO
Stage 2: Post-training, the Summer Interns break into teams to compete in a simulated M&A environment of researching a company and presenting an investment case for the business. The students work together at each stage, creating a model, performing financial due diligence, communicating with the CFO, composing an investment thesis, drafting an investment commitment, and presenting a memorandum to the real-life Palm Tree Board.
Stage 3: Upon completion of the case study, top performers are invited to participate in actual live engagements with clients.
