Note from Stanford Alum
My name is Tim Jausovec, I graduated from Stanford in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Symbolic Systems. Since then, I have been working at Fred Alger Management as a Research Associate. Alger is a growth-oriented investment manager with $23Bn assets under management. We focus on stocks that are experiencing dynamic change, either through high-unit volume growth or positive lifecycle change.
I am reaching out to let you know that we are recruiting for full-time Research Associates and Summer Interns. We will be conducting on campus interviews 10/26 for RA’s and 10/27 for Summer Interns. The Internship and RA Program are designed to give students exposure to asset management and teach you the fundamentals of investing. In the process, you’ll learn to build bottoms-up financial models, perform fundamental due diligence, and how to think about valuing a business.
From my perspective working at Alger has been a great experience with a steep learning curve. The three things that I value most are: (1) the ownership and responsibility I've been given over the past three years: I’ll routinely interact with C-level execs of owned companies, and pitch ideas to portfolio managers. (2) the variety of the work and subject matter, I cover everything from a leading video game publisher (Activision), autonomous driving software company (MobilEye) to a company innovating on molecules used to emit light in OLED displays (Universal Display), etc; and, (3) the opportunity to work with and learn from an incredibly collaborative, smart and experienced group of colleagues.
We hope you apply through Stanford’s Handshake system.. We are looking for curious critical thinkers from all backgrounds. The full-time RA program is designed for seniors, while our internship program is targeted towards juniors.
The deadline for RA and Intern applications is October 19th. If you have any questions regarding the recruiting process, feel free to reach out to Monica Smith via email: msmith@alger.com. If you have any questions regarding Alger or our full-time/summer internship programs, you can reach me at tjausovec@alger.com.
Many thanks,
Tim Jausovec
