Clear Sky Associates Fund PE Part-time Position

Company Overview:

Clear Sky Associates is an entrepreneurial micro-market private equity fund focused primarily on the acquisition of emissions testing facilities in California.  The fund was founded as a hobby by four partners, all of whom have sell-side experience in mergers and acquisitions and buy-side experience in public debt and equity markets at leading institutions.  This is an opportunity to gain experience alongside proven investors as they consolidate a niche market.  As an intern you will play an important role in sourcing and analyzing potential bolt-on acquisitions. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the founders to develop and implement a deal sourcing strategy to identify investment opportunities
• Once identified, collaborate in the evaluation of investment opportunities including but not limited to:
  • Building detailed financial models projecting cash flows and internal rates of return
  • Assessing different financing sources from small business lenders
  • Performing due diligence around operations with a focus on opportunities to grow the top-line, locate synergies, analyze competitors, and identify potential threats
  • Assisting in verifying unaudited financial statements
  • Listening in on transaction negotiations with brokers and sellers
• Monitor weekly operations at existing portfolio companies
• Time commitment estimated at 5-15 hours a week with the ability to work remotely
  • Physical presence will be highly encouraged when performing second round diligence of acquisition targets (on weekends, limited to the Bay area)

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Sophomore or junior with a strong interest in finance shown through coursework and/or extracurricular activities
• Solid academic background with a minimum GPA of 3.50 / 4.00
• Robust quantitative and technical skills with significant experience in Excel
• Previous experience in finance is preferred but not required
• Professional demeanor and sound interpersonal skills when dealing with sellers, outside vendors, and employees
