Communications Summer Intern

Andreessen Horowitz, a high technology venture capital firm, has an opening for a summer

Communications Intern.

Andreessen Horowitz is a $7.1 billion venture capital firm focused on software investments. The

firm backs startups of all stages and its investments include Affirm, Airbnb, Apeel, Buzzfeed,

Coinbase, Databricks, DigitalOcean, Freenome, GitHub, Instacart, Lyft, Pinterest, Shield.ai, Slack, and Tanium.

The Communications Intern will support the Communications group on the a16z Marketing team for 12 weeks during the 2018 summer. This is a rare opportunity for a motivated undergrad to have a front-row seat at a top venture capital firm investing in the best entrepreneurs building the next major tech franchises. In this role, you’ll learn from and work closely with leading communications, editorial, and events experts; as well as develop and expand your communications chops. In addition to the above, the intern will assist with the firm’s speaking program, aid in the upkeep of the marketing agency network, and help with other marketing team projects.

Core Responsibilities

●Assist with speaking program – on deck for vetting inquiries and upkeep of speaking

program tracker

●Help maintain marketing agency network database – assist in identifying and vetting

appropriate agencies and consultants as well as maintaining the agency dashboard

●Help manage marketing database, reporting, and lists – this includes portfolio, media, and

other relevant networks

●Support marketing-specific events – work closely with the events team and relevant partners

across the firm to design, produce, and manage events on behalf of the marketing team

including media dinners, portfolio workshops, and networking receptions

Ideal Candidate Background

• Undergraduate interested in communications, marketing, or business professions

●Excellent written and verbal communication skills

●Additional skills sought out include autonomy, maturity, ability to multitask, organization, and

attention to detail

●Must possess the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

●Experience working with PowerPoint and/or Keynote a plus

●Previous internship experience preferred
