Stanford Women on Boards (SWB) is recruiting a new class of student members (e.g. Associates) for the Oct. 2022 to Jan 2024 (12 month) term. SWB is committed to increasing the representation of Stanford alumnae on corporate and fiduciary boards, increasing Stanford women’s readiness for board service, and further developing the capabilities and influence of Stanford women already on boards.


This is a great position if you are interested in learning about board dynamics, building relationships with high-profile Stanford alums, and gaining exposure to corporations looking to hire female board members.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The SWB Associate will support SWB alumnae leaders in the Committees’ activities:  

  • Running the search process for corporate boards to recruit qualified Stanford alumnae

  • Partnering with recruiters, VC / PE firms, and corporate boards to increase SWB’s public visibility

  • Maximizing the number of board searches that include SWB candidates via proactive outreach to companies and VCs looking to fill boards

  • Managing, growing and updating the database of SWB alumnae members

  • Implementing a CRM software (Thrive) to enable better tracking of SWB members

  • Developing educational resources to enhance the board-readiness of SWB members

  • Creating sustainable culture, infrastructure, and processes to ensure SWB scales its impact

 

TIME COMMITMENT

  • 3-5 hours/week (including the summer months, if possible)

  • 12-month commitment: October 26th, 2022 - January 26th, 2024 (last 3 months for transition)


REQUIREMENTS

  • Reliability, commitment, and responsiveness 

  • Communication skills and poise

  • Passion and curiosity aligned with SWB’s mission

  • Leadership, project management, and and strong organizational skills

  • Empathy and desire to learn managerial skills (incl. organizational strategy, feedback skills) 

  • Capacity for conducting manual processes while developing ways to improve and automate processes

We will be holding a virtual information session about the SWB Associate Program during week 3 of Autumn Quarter, hosted by Co-Chairs of Stanford Women on Boards, Bess Weatherman, MBA ‘88, and Mayree Clark, MBA ‘81,
